Michael Vaters winds up 2009 at the MTRA meeting and PRI Tradeshow |
 |
| Some of the Black Stallion racing team attended the Monster Truck Racing Association (MTRA) meeting and banquet in this past December. Michael Vaters, his wife Denise, Trey Myers and his girlfriend Tammy all headed west to St Louis MO for the annual meeting. The MTRA is a sanctioning organization for the monster truck industry with the purpose of developing and enforcing safety standards and regulations. The safe execution of monster truck competition ensures the continuance and growth of the sport. Trey and Tammy both attended Safety Tech School and obtained their Tech Inspector Certification so that they can inspect monster trucks and certify that they are or are not meeting MTRA Safety Guidelines. Michael was elected to the six member MTRA Board of Directors in the office of Membership Director. Mike hopes to recruit more independent monster truck teams to the organization and help the growth which will improve the effectiveness of the organization. There is strength in numbers… |

Michael Vaters giving a speech at the MTRA Banquet |
| Michael Vaters and his wife operate a monster truck event production company Vaters’ Monster Motorsports which they started eight years ago. They produce events in the summer and fall when the trucks aren’t competing in the Monster Jam Series every weekend. If you want to know more about Vaters’ Monster Motorsports you can visit our website www.vatersmotorsports.com. The first approach that Mike is going to take to increasing MTRA membership is only to only subcontract MTRA member team trucks at his events starting this year. If monster truck teams want to be booked they will join up. Mike has developed a large network of associates in the monster truck industry due to his longevity in the sport and resulting knowledge base of the same. Many people in the industry consult him on all things related to monster trucks. We are hoping that others will follow by example when it is known that Mike has joined up. |

| Mike Vaters took off to Orlando FL shortly after returning home from the MTRA meeting for the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) tradeshow. He was able to visit and speak with most of the team’s sponsors and also to meet representatives of companies who are interested in learning more about getting involved with the Black Stallion Racing team to promote their products. We appreciate all of our sponsors and want to take this opportunity to thank all of the Black Stallion race team’s sponsors as we couldn’t be a successful independent monster truck racing team without all of your support. |

| We want to send a special thanks to Ford Racing who has helped us step up the performance of our all Ford Powered racing engine program. We would also like to take this opportunity to welcome aboard a couple of new sponsors who have already signed on to the Black Stallion racing team this year. Rev 3 is an all natural energy drink produced by USANA out of Salt Lake City UT. The drink is great tasting, all natural and doesn’t cause a “crash and burn” effect. We met Karen Saiger an independent Usana associate who distributes Rev 3 at one of our events last summer and we want to send a special thanks to her for getting us involved with this product. We love it…. Mike also worked out a deal with Fluidyne Performance after talking with them at the PRI and we now have transmission coolers in both trucks which will increase the life of our transmissions which take a lot of abuse in these monsters. We also will be receiving product from Pro-Werks for various applications on the trucks. We already have received some aluminum billet brackets which we used to mount new fire extinguishing systems in the drivers’ compartments. To learn more about our new sponsors visit their websites; |

Black Stallion Takes on Mexico!!! |
November 24, 2009 - New Market MD |
(We were unable to get photos in Mexico but were able to find some video links) |
| Michael Vaters in the Black Stallion and teammate Trey Myers driving the Iron Warrior traveled to the first ever Monster Jam in Mexico City. Vaters Monster Motorsports has sent the Jet Powered 4-Wheeler to take part in Monster Jams International shows several times but this was a first for both the Psycho and Kamikaze along with both trucks. |
| The other trucks in attendance were Captain’s Curse, King Krunch, El Matador, Escalade, Madusa, Superman, Grave Digger and El Toro Loco. |
The Saturday night show filled the stands quickly with over 15,000 fans. The track was the longest in Monster Jam history with over 650 feet of distance between the turns for the Chicago style racecourse. The racing portion of the show was full of action as the trucks tried to keep control on the very slick surface of the track. |
Trey Myers in the Iron Warrior came up just a little bit short of a win during the first round against El Toro Loco. Michael Vaters in the all Ford Powered K&N Black Stallion was on a mission defeating King Krunch and Grave Digger. In the semi-finals the race came down to the wire with Superman coming out of the final turn just moments ahead of the Black Stallion to get the advantage and the win. Superman won in the finals against the Grave Digger who came back as fast loser. |
Michael Vaters behind the wheel of the all Ford Powered K&N Black Stallion amazed the fans with a fast paced action packed freestyle exhibition. The Stallion soared across the track that had several large bus stacks and a dirt ramp similar to a freestyle landing ramp right in the middle of the track. The fans went crazy roaring their approval. The team decided to sit the Iron Warrior out of freestyle competition due to some mechanical difficulties with the safety system. The necessary repairs were made after the show and the Warrior returned to competition on Sunday. Safety is always first priority. |
The spectators who had never experienced an event like this went nuts for Monster Jam standing the entire show and then continuing to stick around applauding and cheering as the drivers all waved good bye at the end of the show for 20 more minutes. |
On Sunday afternoon the crowd filled into the Pit Party area with several thousand people in attendance. This was the first chance for these fans to get close to the trucks and their drivers. The 9,000 spectators were ready to see the monster truck action. |
The 10,000 foot elevation had the teams scrambling after the first day to make adjustments to their fuel systems on the engines. The Iron Warrior was defeated in the first round by Superman. Michael Vaters behind the wheel of the all Ford Powered K&N Black Stallion had Madusa beat out by several truck lengths going into the final turn but electrical gremlins caused the Stallion’s motor to shut down just before the finish giving Madusa the win. Escalade moved up through the rounds to attain the racing win. |
The track crew worked on the track overnight making improvements to the dirt ramps. Trey Myers powered the Iron Warrior into one of his most action packed freestyle exhibitions of the year. Michael Vaters in the all Ford Powered K&N Black Stallion in turn stepped up the pace with tremendous air nearly clearing the bus stacks as the spectators held baited breath. Vaters had come to Mexico to wow the spectators and win over some new fans and he did!!! The Mexico event was a great way for the Vaters’ Motorsports team to finish out the year with a bang. |
The team will be working on the trucks and equipment back at the shop in preparation for the first quarter out in 2010. The team will be attending the Monster Truck Racing Association - MTRA meeting and banquet the first weekend of December. Michael Vaters was elected to the MTRA board of directors and he has some great ideas on that front….congratulations Mike. Mike will also be attending the PRI Trade show in Orlando the second weekend in December and hopes to see many of our sponsors there. As we wind up another great year, our busiest yet to date, we want to thank all of our sponsors for all of their support. If it were not for our sponsors we couldn’t be one of the most competitive independent race teams. |

The Stallion returns to romp at Adventure Park |
November 24, 2009 - New Market MD |
| Vaters Monster Motorsports finished up their summer tour at Adventure Park USA. The park wanted a monster truck event after seeing the turnout of excited fans during the monster truck display in August. The grassy hillsides surrounding the track filled with excited fans as the trucks were introduced. The monster truck lineup included all of our local favorites; Michael Vaters in the all Ford Powered K&N Black Stallion, Trey Myers behind the wheel of the Iron Warrior, Storm Damage piloted by Tim Mente and Tim Bee in Killer Bee. The show was rounded out with some FMX by Michael the 2nd and the jet powered 4-wheelers Kamikaze and Psycho. |
The monster action got under way with a wheelie contest. The rain from the day before made the track slick so the drivers used the wheelie competition to gauge how the trucks were going to hook up. Mente was first out and got some vertical action in Storm Damage as he crossed over the row of cars. The Killer Bee driven by Tim Bee followed suit in a flawless wheelie. Trey Myers brought the Iron Warrior out and got warmed up on the first line of cars then stood the truck nearly vertical on his second attempt. Vaters roared out on the track and gave the fans two tailgate dragging wheelies and the crowd went crazy! |
