We are now one month into 2012 the year that Michael Vaters and the Black Stallion monster truck celebrates its’ 30 YEAR ANNIVERSARY in the monster truck industry. This motorsport has come a long way since its’ start where spectators were in awe watching a driver hang out the window of a 4-wheel drive truck as it crawled over a line of salvage cars. The monster truck industry has grown to one of the most popular, accessible and fastest growing motorsport ever. These 10,000 pound high horse powered machines literally fly through the air at events all over the world. People want more.....more air, more speed, more action and mostly more destruction. Advancements in technology and the high expectations of our spectators has been the driving force behind the growth and increasing popularity of monster trucks. The number of shows at various venues across the United States and abroad has grown each year exponentially.

Public opinion of monster trucks in competition and as motorsport has evolved along with the actual machines themselves.  In the past the general belief was that a “monster truck rally” was an event that was only attended by “rednecks.”  It is now one of the most popular and respected motorsport events out there.  A diverse variety of spectators and fans from young to old attend these events.

The corporate world is starting to recognize the marketing potential and value of the monster truck industry.  Branding carried by monster trucks reach more.....more in numbers......and a more diverse collection of potential consumers.  Businesses can obtain invaluable testing of their service or product by working with a monster truck team.  No other motorsport provides the rigorous environment that the monster truck endures under normal competition.

Safety-Kleen invited Michael Vaters to bring the Safety-Kleen Black Stallion to put on display in their booth at two trade shows this past December; PRI (Performance Racing Industry) and IMIS (International Motorsports Industry Show.)  Vaters got the opportunity to visit and talk shop with most of our current product sponsors.  Mike also forged some new relationships with other business that recognized the potential in working with the Stallion team.

We want to thank all of our sponsors for their support.....some sponsors have been with us for over 10 years.  The Stallion team drivers and crew appreciate every bit of assistance given by our sponsors even if it is only a price break on products.  In these hard economic times with belt and budget tightening we realize it’s harder to contribute.  Thank you again.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Vaters’ Monster Motorsports won the MTRA’s (Monster Truck Racing Association) “Promoter of the Year” award for the past two years; 2010 and 2011.  In addition James “Super Jimmy” Tracey won “2011 Rookie of the Year.”

We also want to welcome Dana the world leader of driveline products.  They will be helping the Stallion team with u joints, yokes and drive shaft parts for the trucks.  Driveline parts are the back bone of competitive monster truck team.  These 10,000 pound machines go through a lot of abuse causing all that destruction and excitement for the fans.  Needless to say its a necessity to have the best most durable parts available in order to stay competitive.

Jimmy Tracey...bus driver of Higher Education....Cool Bus is no stranger to making repairs.  The bus has been torn apart for repairs this season quite a bit as Jimmy gets used to the feel of his larger motor.  Dewalt’s product sponsorship of tools for the Higher Education bus couldn’t have been better timed.  It has been a necessity as the Higher Education monster truck is transported to different events than the rest of the Stallion team.  The geographic circumstances has made it impossible to share tools when we are competing.  Dewalt tools are extremely durable and have worked well with all of our heavy duty needs.

And last but not least we want to thank Pyrotect for providing new helmets for the drivers.  We are pleased with the fit and durability of their products.  Safety shouldn’t be a trade off for comfort and Pyrotect gets it.  Their helmets are lightweight but sturdy and are holding up well to the rigors of being bounced off of roll bar tubing in the cockpits of our monster trucks.  Jimmy’s Pyrotect helmet was personalized for the Higher Education truck by local Hagerstown artist Charles Bowman.  It turned out great.
